Description

This Apple Bread is the perfect fall treat, combining sweet apples and fragrant cinnamon for a moist, flavorful loaf. Easy to make with simple ingredients, it’s ideal for breakfast, a snack, or dessert, offering comforting autumn flavors with every bite.

Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon

Wet Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Fresh Ingredients

  • 2 cups chopped apples (Pink Lady, Gala, Honeycrisp – peeled and chopped, about 2 apples)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare pan: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8 x 5 inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking. Set aside.
  2. Mix cinnamon sugar: In a small bowl, whisk together the brown sugar and ground cinnamon until well combined. Set aside for layering later.
  3. Combine eggs and granulated sugar: In a large mixing bowl, whisk the eggs and granulated sugar thoroughly until the mixture becomes smooth and well integrated.
  4. Add melted butter and vanilla: Stir in the melted butter and vanilla extract into the egg mixture until fully combined and smooth.
  5. Incorporate dry ingredients: Add the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt to the wet mixture. Gently mix until just combined; avoid overmixing to keep the bread tender. The batter will be thick.
  6. Fold in apples: Carefully fold in the chopped apples to evenly distribute them throughout the batter without breaking them down too much.
  7. Layer batter and cinnamon sugar: Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle approximately three-quarters of the cinnamon brown sugar mixture evenly over the batter.
  8. Add remaining batter and cinnamon sugar: Spread the remaining batter over the cinnamon sugar layer carefully. Then sprinkle the remaining cinnamon sugar over the top. Use a knife or spoon to gently swirl the sugar into the batter, creating a cinnamon swirl pattern.
  9. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 35 to 45 minutes or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with just a few moist crumbs. If the loaf is browning too quickly, tent loosely with foil during the last 10 to 15 minutes.
  10. Cool and serve: Allow the bread to cool completely in the pan before slicing. This helps the flavors to set and ensures clean slices. Serve as desired.

Notes

  • Use firm, crisp apples like Pink Lady, Gala, or Honeycrisp for the best texture and flavor.
  • Make sure eggs are at room temperature for better mixing and texture.
  • Do not overmix the batter after adding flour to keep the bread tender.
  • If you want a more pronounced cinnamon flavor, you can increase the cinnamon in the sugar mixture slightly.
  • The bread can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerated for up to a week.
  • For extra moisture, serving warm with a spread of butter is delightful.
