Description
Buttery Steak Tortellini is a rich and creamy pasta dish featuring tender seared beef chunks combined with cheese-filled tortellini in a decadent Parmesan cream sauce, perfect for an indulgent dinner.
Ingredients
Scale
Beef and Butter
- 1½ lbs beef chunks (sirloin or ribeye)
- 5 tablespoons butter
- 3 garlic cloves, crushed
Pasta
- 1 (20 oz) pack cheese-filled tortellini
Sauce
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1½ cups grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Olive oil (for tossing tortellini)
Instructions
- Cook the tortellini: Boil a large pot of salted water and cook the cheese-filled tortellini according to package instructions, about 7-9 minutes. Once cooked, drain well and toss with a little olive oil to prevent sticking.
- Sear the beef: In a skillet over medium-high heat, melt 3 tablespoons of butter. Add the crushed garlic and sauté briefly until fragrant. Spread the beef chunks in a single layer, season with salt and black pepper, and cook for about 2-3 minutes per side until nicely browned. Remove the beef chunks from the skillet, keeping the garlic butter in the pan.
- Make the creamy Parmesan sauce: Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter in the same skillet over medium heat. Pour in the heavy cream and bring it to a gentle simmer. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently until the sauce thickens smoothly. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
- Combine pasta and sauce: Gently fold the cooked tortellini into the creamy Parmesan sauce, allowing the pasta to soak in the flavors for about a minute.
- Serve: Plate the creamy tortellini and top with the seared beef chunks. Drizzle any leftover sauce over the dish before serving for extra richness.
Notes
- Using ribeye or sirloin provides tender and flavorful beef, but you may substitute with any preferred steak cut.
- Tossing tortellini with olive oil after cooking prevents it from sticking together before adding to the sauce.
- Be careful not to overcook the beef chunks to keep them juicy and tender.
- Adjust the thickness of the sauce by simmering longer if desired, or adding a splash of cream if it becomes too thick.
- For an added touch, garnish with fresh parsley or extra grated Parmesan before serving.
