Description
Delight in these decadent Caramel Chocolate Crunch Bars featuring a buttery crumbly crust, a luscious layer of caramel, and a generous topping of melted chocolate chunks and chips, enhanced with optional nuts and a hint of sea salt for added texture and flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
Crust
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
Topping
- 1 cup caramel sauce
- 1 cup chocolate chunks
- ½ cup chocolate chips
- ½ cup chopped nuts (optional)
- ¼ tsp sea salt (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper to ensure easy removal of the bars.
- Prepare the Crust: In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, brown sugar, and melted unsalted butter. Mix until the mixture becomes crumbly and holds together when pressed.
- Bake the Crust: Press the crumbly mixture evenly into the prepared pan and bake for 10–12 minutes or until it turns lightly golden and sets firmly.
- Add Caramel Layer: Pour the caramel sauce evenly over the warm baked crust, using a spatula to spread it smoothly across the surface.
- Top with Chocolate and Nuts: Sprinkle the chocolate chunks evenly over the caramel. If using, add the chopped nuts and a light sprinkle of sea salt to enhance flavor and texture.
- Bake Again: Return the pan to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the caramel is bubbling around the edges.
- Add Melted Chocolate Chips: Remove the pan from the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips over the hot caramel layer. Allow the chips to melt; then gently spread the melted chocolate evenly over the bars.
- Cool Completely: Let the bars cool completely at room temperature to set the layers properly, which will help with clean slicing.
- Slice and Serve: Once cooled, slice the bars into squares of desired size and enjoy your rich, crunchy treat.
Notes
- Use high-quality chocolate chunks and chips for the best flavor results.
- Add a pinch of sea salt or toasted nuts to enhance texture and flavor contrast.
- Chill the bars before slicing to achieve neat, clean squares.
- Store the bars in an airtight container; they can be frozen for up to 2–3 months without loss of flavor or texture.
