Description

Cowboy Breakfast Sliders are a hearty and delicious breakfast treat featuring layers of scrambled eggs, savory ground pork sausage, crispy bacon, and sharp cheddar cheese all nestled within soft King’s Hawaiian Rolls and topped with savory cowboy butter. Perfect for a family breakfast or a crowd-pleasing brunch.

Ingredients

Scale

Sliders

  • 6 large eggs, scrambled
  • 8 ounces ground pork sausage, cooked
  • 6 slices thick-cut bacon, cooked and crumbled (about 1 cup)
  • 1 cup (113 g) sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 package (12-count) King’s Hawaiian Rolls

Cowboy Butter

  • 1 recipe cowboy butter, melted, divided

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Dish: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly spray a 7×11-inch baking dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking and set it aside.
  2. Place Bottom Halves of Rolls in Pan: Split the King’s Hawaiian Rolls horizontally and arrange the bottom halves evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  3. Pour Cowboy Butter over Rolls: Evenly drizzle about 2 tablespoons of the melted cowboy butter over the bottom halves of the rolls to add flavor and moisture.
  4. Layer the Fillings: Spread an even layer of scrambled eggs over the buttered rolls, followed by the cooked ground pork sausage, crumbled bacon, and shredded sharp cheddar cheese.
  5. Add Top Halves of Rolls and Brush with Butter: Place the top halves of the rolls over the layered fillings. Brush the tops generously with another 2 tablespoons of melted cowboy butter to help achieve a golden, buttery crust.
  6. Cover and Bake: Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes, or until the cheese inside is melted and bubbly.
  7. Remove Foil and Continue Baking: Remove the foil and bake for an additional 3 to 5 minutes or until the tops of the sliders turn golden brown and slightly crispy.
  8. Slice and Serve: Once baked, remove the sliders from the oven. Slice them into individual portions and serve warm, optionally brushing remaining cowboy butter over the sliders or providing it as a dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For best results, use fresh eggs and high-quality sharp cheddar cheese for maximum flavor.
  • The cowboy butter recipe is key—usually it contains butter, garlic, herbs, and spices which complement the savory fillings.
  • Make sure to cook the sausage and bacon well before layering to avoid excess grease.
  • These sliders can be assembled ahead of time and refrigerated until ready to bake, making them great for busy mornings.
  • Substitute ground pork sausage with ground turkey or beef for a different flavor profile.
  • Ensure rolls are not too dry by brushing with ample cowboy butter before baking.
