Ingredients
Scale
Slider Assembly
- 24 Hawaiian rolls
- 5 cups rotisserie chicken, shredded
- 12 slices provolone cheese
- Hot honey sauce (a double recipe)
Butter Seasoning
- 4 tablespoons butter
- ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- ⅛ teaspoon smoked paprika
Coleslaw
- 4 cups shredded coleslaw mix
- ½ cup coleslaw dressing or ranch dressing (plus more if needed)
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and spray a 9 x 13-inch baking pan with nonstick baking spray to prevent sticking.
- Slice Rolls: Carefully remove the Hawaiian rolls from the bag without separating them. Using a long serrated knife, slice the bundle horizontally in half, keeping the rolls intact as a single sheet. Place the bottom half of the rolls into the prepared baking pan, gently pressing them together if necessary to fit snugly.
- Layer Cheese and Chicken: Distribute the 12 slices of provolone cheese evenly over the bottom rolls. In a bowl, toss the shredded rotisserie chicken with the hot honey sauce until well coated, then spread the chicken mixture evenly on top of the cheese layer. Bake uncovered for 15 minutes to melt the cheese and heat the chicken through.
- Add Top Rolls and Butter Mixture: Place the top half of the rolls over the chicken layer. In a small bowl, combine softened butter with cayenne pepper, salt, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Brush this seasoned butter mixture evenly over the top of the rolls.
- Bake Until Golden: Return the sliders to the oven and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the sliders are heated throughout.
- Prepare Coleslaw: While the sliders finish baking, mix the shredded coleslaw with the coleslaw dressing or ranch in a medium bowl. Adjust seasoning or dressing quantity if needed.
- Assemble and Serve: Carefully remove the sliders from the oven. Lift off the top rolls gently and spread the dressed coleslaw evenly over the chicken layer. Replace the tops and optionally brush additional butter mixture on top for extra flavor. Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- You can control the heat of the sliders by adjusting the amount of hot honey sauce or cayenne pepper.
- Substitute coleslaw dressing with ranch for a creamier texture and different flavor profile.
- If you don’t have pre-made hot honey sauce, you can make your own by combining honey with hot sauce or chili flakes.
- These sliders are perfect for making ahead; assemble and refrigerate, then bake just before serving.
- Use a serrated knife to cut the rolls cleanly without squishing them.
