  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Description

A comforting and easy-to-make casserole featuring tender chicken, creamy sauce, vegetables, and fluffy biscuit pieces baked to golden perfection with melted cheese on top. Perfect for a family dinner or potluck, this Chicken Bubble Biscuit Bake is both hearty and flavorful.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken Mixture

  • 3 cups Cooked Chicken (shredded or diced)
  • 1 can Cream of Chicken Soup
  • 1 cup Sour Cream (plain Greek yogurt can be used)
  • 1/2 cup Milk (or chicken broth for enhanced flavor)
  • 2 cups Frozen Mixed Vegetables
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder (fresh garlic can be used)
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Pepper

Biscuit and Topping

  • 1 can Refrigerated Biscuit Dough (cut into quarters)
  • 2 cups Shredded Cheese (cheddar or cheese blend)
  • 2 tablespoons Melted Butter (optional, for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare Biscuit Dough: Unroll the refrigerated biscuit dough and cut each biscuit into quarters to create smaller biscuit pieces for the bake.
  3. Mix Chicken Filling: In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, and milk. Stir in the frozen mixed vegetables, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until the mixture is well blended and smooth.
  4. Combine Biscuit Pieces and Filling: Gently fold the quartered biscuit pieces into the chicken and vegetable filling, making sure the biscuit pieces are evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
  5. Assemble Casserole: Pour the combined mixture into the greased baking dish and spread it out evenly. Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the top of the casserole.
  6. Optional Butter Brush: Brush the tops of the biscuit pieces with melted butter if using, to help them brown nicely and add flavor.
  7. Bake Covered: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes to allow the dish to heat through and start cooking the biscuits.
  8. Bake Uncovered: Remove the aluminum foil and continue baking for another 10-15 minutes, or until the biscuit pieces are golden brown on top and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Cool and Serve: Allow the casserole to cool for about 5 minutes before serving to set the layers and make serving easier.

Notes

  • Substitute sour cream with plain Greek yogurt for a tangier, healthier option.
  • Use chicken broth instead of milk for a richer flavor in the filling.
  • Feel free to add fresh garlic instead of garlic powder for more intense flavor.
  • Customize the vegetable mix based on preference or seasonal availability.
  • The melted butter brush is optional but helps create a golden, flavorful biscuit crust.
  • Leftover casserole can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven.
