Jalapeno Popper Wonton Cups Recipe

  • Author: Victor
  • Total Time: 36 minutes
  • Yield: 24 wonton cups 1x

Description

These Jalapeno Popper Wonton Cups are a deliciously cheesy, spicy appetizer featuring crispy baked wonton wrappers filled with a creamy jalapeño and cheese mixture. Perfectly bite-sized and bursting with flavor, they’re ideal for parties, game days, or anytime you crave a savory snack with a little kick.

Ingredients

Scale

Wonton Cups

  • 24 wonton wrappers
  • ½ cup melted butter

Filling

  • 6 ounces jalapeños, diced (adjust to taste)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons sliced green onions
  • ¾ cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the wonton cups.
  2. Prepare Wonton Cups: Brush both sides of each wonton wrapper with melted butter. Press each wrapper gently into the cups of a mini muffin tin. Bake for 7 minutes until they become slightly crispy and sturdy enough to hold the filling.
  3. Mix the Filling: In a small bowl, combine the diced jalapeños, softened cream cheese, sliced green onions, mozzarella cheese, and ½ cup of shredded cheddar cheese. Keep the remaining ¼ cup of cheddar cheese aside for topping.
  4. Fill and Bake: Spoon the cream cheese and jalapeño mixture into each pre-baked wonton cup. Sprinkle the reserved cheddar cheese evenly on top of each filled cup. Return the muffin tin to the oven and bake for an additional 12 to 14 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the wonton wrappers have turned a golden brown color.
  5. Cool and Serve: Remove the wonton cups from the oven and allow them to cool for about 3 minutes. Serve warm to enjoy the creamy, spicy flavors at their best.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of jalapeños according to your heat preference.
  • Brushing the wontons with butter on both sides ensures a crispy texture and rich flavor.
  • You can substitute cream cheese with a lower-fat version for a lighter option.
  • These can be prepared ahead by baking the wonton cups and making the filling; assemble and bake just before serving.
  • Serve with a side of ranch or sour cream for dipping if desired.
