Instructions

  1. Prepare Butter and Sugar: Beat the unsalted butter and powdered sugar together until the mixture is light and fluffy, ensuring a smooth and creamy base.
  2. Add Wet Ingredients: Incorporate the eggs and milk into the butter-sugar mixture, mixing until fully combined and the resulting batter is smooth.
  3. Make Dough: Add all-purpose flour, salt, vanilla extract, and almond extract to the batter. Mix until a cohesive dough forms.
  4. Divide and Color Dough: Divide the dough into portions: tint one half using the purple gel food coloring. Then split the remaining half into black (using black gel food coloring) and white dough portions.
  5. Roll Black Dough: Roll the black dough into a rectangle measuring approximately 6 by 12 inches.
  6. Layer White Dough: Roll the white dough into a rectangle of the same size, then place it on top of the black dough, rolling lightly so the layers adhere.
  7. Prepare Purple Dough: Roll the purple dough into the same size rectangle, sprinkle with purple sprinkles on top.
  8. Form Spiral Log: Roll the layered black and white dough into a log shape, then wrap with the purple dough and sprinkles incorporated. Chill the log as needed before slicing into cookies and baking according to your oven’s temperature (usually 350°F for 10-12 minutes).
